The Consiglio dei Terzieri is an association established in Cortona under the names of the patron saints Mark and Margaret. The association is closely related to the ancient “Statute of Cortona” of 1325 and its main aim is to pursue the common good by contributing through works, means and different initiatives to improve the value and reputation of Cortona. In particular, the Consiglio dei Terzieri enhances the spirit of meeting and sharing that has been gathering the citizens for centuries through patron saints' festivals, food festivals, social and cultural events, which are also popular among tourists who are invited to stay within the city wall.
The Consiglio dei Terzieri, apart from the Archidado Joust, organises many events for the town of Cortona :
The association also supports the Comune di Cortona by offering its contribution during many initiatives taking place within the whole municipality.
